Safety 39/51 Degree API Combined Form Thermo-Hydrometer

These combined-form thermo-hydrometers, with a convenient, built-in thermometer, come in a wide range of models measuring the relative density (specific gravity) of oil and petroleum related products in various ranges from -1° to 101°API in accordance with American Petroleum Institute (API) standards.

Note: Combined form thermo-hydrometers should be stored in a clean, dry, safe place, and should not be subjected to extreme temperatures. Built-in thermometers should be used as a general reference only. For temperature critical applications, a calibrated standard thermometer is recommended.

The API scale was selected in 1921 by the American Petroleum Institute (API), the U.S. Bureau of Mines, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as the standard hydrometer scale for petroleum products.

On select API Hydrometer Hydrometers with a built-in thermometer, the thermometer scale is located in the body of the hydrometer.

A correction scale for conversion of the reading to 60°F is printed opposite the temperature scale.
